Umpire Development & Evaluations
Our instructional staff is comprised of current and former Triple-A professional umpires, current and former NCAA postseason umpires, and leaders in the umpiring community.
Four Weekend Opportunities | Limited Spots Available
An umpire development and evaluation opportunity for umpires looking to advance to NCAA Division I, or umpires wanting to advance to NCAA Division II or Division III post-season. Learn the key aspects of 3-man mechanics and put yourself on the path to officiate higher-level baseball.
A UNIQUE COLLEGE UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT EVENT
Continuing education is critical to the success of the MAC/UCU program. This unique umpire development event combines classroom instruction (virtual) with live game evaluations over four different weekends.
Students learn valuable insight into working the mechanics during the class instruction and then apply during the live game evaluations with highly skilled evaluators watching. Video is incorporated as much as possible to allow students to assess their performance and receive detailed evaluations for improvement.
Umpires may choose from one of these four weekends. Register soon as we have limited spots at each location (only 12 to 18).
- September 3-5 at the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex in Salisbury, MD
- September 17-19 at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA
- October 1-3 at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, VA
- October 8-10 at Legacy Park Sports in Ashland, VA
The live evaluation games are part of Showcase Tournaments, respectfully at each location. Umpires are evaluated in person and on video (if available). Key plays are isolated and reviewed with students following their games.
Evaluations by MAC/UCU Division I umpires and current professional umpires under the guidance of NCAA Coordinator John Porter.
We’ll kick-off the each weekend on Friday evening with the virtual “MAC Classroom” – you’ll receive instruction on college-level three man mechanics and insight on umpiring high-level baseball from some of the top umpires in the game.
Saturday and Sunday are live game evaluations where you will put into action the concepts and mechanics taught in our virtual classroom.
The Showcase fee for a weekend is $325. It includes the virtual classroom and the two days of live evaluation games. Please note all registrations are subject to assignor approval. Payment does not guarantee approval.
If you need hotel reservations, you may add to your registration a hotel room for one night or for both nights (Friday and Saturday). The cost is $130 per night, including taxes
